my sudden realization

So this week I had a sudden, and, to me, shocking revelation: I have fallen into the trap, and all the way in. I always saw those trailers for crime-fighting/cop/detective shows and thought that they weren't for me, and even pitied those people who got sucked in, hooked. But then I started watching Psych. It was funny and different and all that jazz. Then came the occasional CSI: NY and Cold Case. Those were great, but they didn't really stick. Then came The Mentalist. THAT one REALLY got me; it's one of my two favorite shows. And that leads me to my other favorite: Criminal Minds. I have to admit that I ABSOLUTELY ADORE REID, (and so does my sister Emmy ) and I just think it has to be one of the most intelligently written shows ever. I am aware that there are definitely some gory episodes, so I just don't watch those ones. But I love it!!

Believe it or not, although I know that real life is nothing like tv, but I am seriously considering a college minor in Criminology. Seriously.

some culture...

Last night we watched The African Queen (you know, one of those "musts" before you die) and I have to say that although it was a bit slow to get going, I ended up loving it. Humphrey Bogart is, of course, amazing, and although I won't say I'm Katherine Hepburn's biggest fan, I enjoyed her performance, and I can't say there was anything wrong with it. All in all, it was worth having on my list of movies I've scene.

Here's a question, though: why is Sullivan's Travels on the 100 best movies list? I just don't understand that decision...

so i was thinking...

I just figured I would say something about the subtitle to this blog, which reads, “Effusions of Fancy by a Very Young Girl in a Style Entirely New”. It is from the movie Mansfield Park (based on the book by Jane Austen) at the end when Edmund and Fanny have gotten married and are taking a stroll to their house. Edmund suggests a title for Fanny’s writing, and that is his idea for a subtitle. Although Fanny laughs and sweetly denounces it as awful, I thought it was a bit fitting.

summer's here!

So it’s been a while since I have put up any pictures, and although these may not be very exciting, I want to post them. I am more into cool/cold weather than hot, (although it does mean swimming!) so spring, fall, and winter are to me, much preferable to summer. However, it seems that summer always brings with it the most memories, and it’s also great for photography. Here are a few from the spring/summer so far. ;)

hey (copy from inkstained hands)

Hey, so you’re going to have to check facebook to see the pictures of National Convention, but let me just say, it was EPIC!!!! Probably the best week of my life. Ok, so last year was amazing, aside from the social aspect. (Mostly I just trailed Emmy who in turn trailed me and we talked to a few of the staffers we knew.) This year I knew people! And those I didn’t, stretched myself and talked to!! It was so much fun, and since the theme of the week was change (changing lives to change the world) I thought going out of my comfort-zone was fitting. ;) The speakers were splendid, especially Aaron Watson, Chad Warren, Lydia Shanks, and Zach Hunter!! But my favorite part by far was the WORSHIP. I cried during almost every session; God was very much there and very much moving. Especially when Josh led the signing was I really moved, and most especially when he paused and talked briefly about the idols in our lives. I really started bawling then (;)), with Emmy and our friends Taylor and Melissa. Overall it was just incredible. Jesus is amazing.

(P.S. I was even coerced into applying for staff! I don’t think I’ll get it, but it can’t hurt to try!)

i've an idea!

So I have an idea: what if I double post everything here that I put up on my other blog , so that if anyone reads one, the other is current? I think that's what I'll do. :)

new blog

So, not to discredit my fellow blogspot users since it can really be a great thing, but the reason I joined was because it was the cheapest (in that it was free) blog "software" available, and I wasn't currently in the position to pay when I started this. I know from looking at the blogs of many of my friends that if one is creative, the possibilities on blogspot are endless, but I have recently changed my blogging target to my own site, Inkstained Hands.

I hope you enjoy!

P.S. I may still get on here occasionally and post, if at all possible. Although I love the idea of a blog, I find I am not the type of person who remembers to post, etc...
