So, let me think, what music do I like to listen to?
Mostly I listen to:
Josh Groban ; Awake, (Weeping, Mai, So she dances, In her eyes, +) , Closer (When you say you love me, Caruso, Oceana, You raise me up, +) , Debut album ‘Josh Groban’ (Alla luce del sole, A’ll improvviso amore, Vincent, Canto alla vita, Let me fall, +), and Noel, my favorite on there being Thank you, I believe it is called. For some reason my sister and I call him ‘Joshers’; I have no idea why, we just do. ;) He is so adorable and seems like the sweetest, most humble guy you can find. I love his smile and the sweet way he interacts with people. It helps his cause that he’s gorgeous. ;) Rumor has it (from his own mouth!!) he’s a Christian, too.
Michael Buble; Debut ‘Michael Buble’, It’s time, Call me irresponsible, A taste of Buble, and Crazy love. I can’t go into which are my favorites; there are only a few I don’t love. His jazzy style is so smooth and makes my happy to listen to- some of the songs are quite sketchy, but mostly harmless. I tell you, he melts my heart every time I listen to him. As with Joshers, he’s gorgeous to look at as well as listen to. :D I am an old Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra fan, so he was a welcome addition to my music library. My apologies to any people who always stand by the original, but he has come to replace many of their versions in my heart/mind.
Casting Crowns; you all know these guys, right? Fabulous musicians with beautiful hearts for God. Their music is an inspiration to me and lifts me up when I listen to it. I do not have their three latest CDs (The alter and the door, Peace on Earth, Until the whole world hears) but I have the first two (debut, ‘Castng Crowns‘ and Lifesong) as well as The alter and the door tour live cd and dvd. They are amazing. One of these days I intend on seeing them in concert.
Downhere; This band is rather new in the music world, but I love their uplifting, fun, varying music and just got their latest CD, Ending is Beginning for Christmas. It’s great, especially the songs, Bleed for this love, Here I am, Cathederal made of people, Something heavenly, My last ‘Amen’, The problem, The beggar who gives alms, and How many kings?. Clearly I really like them, since that was most of the CD. :) I also like that they have two main singers who each do different songs. They are really different from others I have heard, but some of my favorites.
Fee; an awesome band of young guys who spend their musical talents writing worships songs, they are some of my new favorites. When I first heard their music I confused them with “Leeland” who I do not like and so I stayed clear for a while. Not any more! My sister and I each have one of their cds, and my favorites so far are: All because of Jesus, God is alive, Rise and sing, Happy day, (although that is originally by Tim Hughes, another amazing artist), Everything Falls, Promised Land, and others. Love the website. ;)
The Script; this is a band that is new to me, even if a bunch of other people have probably known their stuff for a while. They are Irish, which is so neat, and their music is great. However, those from the British Isles do tend to use some words I never would, and although said words are “bleeped” out of the commercial versions of the songs, beware. :P My favorites are: We cry, The Man who can’t be moved, Rusty Halo,Talk you down, Breakeven (do not watch the video!), The man who would not be moved, I’m yours (different from Jason Mraz), Before the worst, and Live like we’re dying. (No, American Idol’s Kris Allen did not write that song; The Script wrote it first, and I don’t mean the one Tim McGraw does.)
NeedToBreathe is another band that I love, and the main singer, William “Bear” Rinehart, has a really awesome, very unique voice. I love their sound and almost everything I have heard by them. My favorites are Washed by the water (one of their best known hits), Through smoke, Lay ‘em down, I won’t turn back, Girl named Tennessee, and Something beautiful(!!!).
Jason Mraz; I like what I have heard so far, which isn’t much, I’m afraid. Some I don’t know the names, but the ones that come to mind are: I’m yours, Curbside Prophet, Wordplay, Mr. Curiosity, The Geek in the Pink, and Lucky (with Colbie Caillat).
Sanctus Real; I love these guys, even though I only know about 15+ songs by them. My favorite is Whatever You’re doing (Something Heavenly), but I also love: Leap of Faith, Forgiven, Eternal, Half our lives, Lead me, These things take time, Lay down my guns, We need each other, and a bunch of others. Their web site, also, is fantastic. :)
Jamie Cullum! This guy is so talented! I love his Gran Torino, I could have danced all night, All over it now, I get a kick out of you, Singin’ in the Rain, and several others. His CD, Twentysomething, is the only one i have in its entirety, but I love almost everything I hear from him. Jazz is officially my favorite genre all-around, and he is amazing. Plus, he’s only “Twentysomething”. ;)
Matthew West; He is more my sister’s thing, but I love his music. Something about his is so sweet and so uplifting, the l=songs he writes about his little girl and wife, and stuff. He seems like the sweetest guy. I especially love the songs, Stop the world, You are everything, The motions, More, A friend in the world, and All the broken pieces.
Francesca Battistelli is another favorite of mine; she has a unique sound that I really like, not another “BarlowGirl” (although I like certain songs by them also). My favorite my Francesca is Beautiful, beautiful, (My Paper Heart) but I love a lot of her music.
TeenPact Worship; TeenPact is one of the greatest things in the world, but I won’t go into all that now. ;) Their worship (life at National Convention) is one of, if not THE greatest thing I have ever experienced. Their cd is for sale on their site, and it is really great. :) Lydia Shanks, one of the main singers, is a friend of mine.
Some Skillet is good; I like Awake and Alive, Lucy, Comatose, The Last Night, Rebirthing, and a few others. They are my brother’s favorite band, I think.
Britt Nicole; I saw this amazing singer in concert just recently, with my sister and a friend in Jacksonville, Fl, and just loved it! She had amazing energy and such a fun presence, plus, this girl can hold a note! I love all her songs, but The Lost Get Found, Safe, Don’t Worry Now, You, and a few others are my favorites.
Norah Jones is amazing! I love her voice now, but for some reason about a year ago, I thought it was annoying. How wrong I was! ;) (Well, now I’m all into Jazz, so this change was to be expected!) My favorites by her are Not my Friend, Come away with me, Chasing Pirates, Don’t know why, Seven years and Cold, cold heart.
I have also lately come to like some music by Chasen, most especially “Castaway.”
I also LOVE Switchfoot, most of what they do. ;) Oh, and my aunt used to babysit Jon and Tim Foreman. ;)
Michael W. Smith;
Classical and soundtracks; (Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Moulin Rouge, +)
Jars of Clay;
MercyMe;
Chris Tomlin;
Tim Hughes;
Kutless;
Stellar Kart;
etc…
